Chouji Akimichi is a shinobi from Konoha, the Hidden Village of the Leaf, and is a member of the Akimichi clan, one of the four Noble Clans of Konoha, specialize in consuming food and transforming those calories into chakra to be stronger.

As a member of the Akimichi clan, Chouji is always seen eating and thus, consequently Chouji is round and not very athletic. Since young, due to his size and constant hunger, he is often scorned and mocked by the other children. However there is one person who always respected Chouji and stood up for him – Shikamaru Nara - who became his best friend whom Chouji is very loyal to.

Though Chouji likes to eat, he is however quite sensitive when other people talks about his size and can become highly agitated when somebody calls him “fat” (he prefers to be called “big boned,” “chubby,” or “pleasingly plump”). Once called “fat,” Choji’s resolve to fight is elevated to new levels and he becomes much more hostile to his opponents.

In combat, Chouji has the ability to use his clan Baika No Jutsu to increase his size reshaping himself into a large, round form. Once in this form, he can use the Human Meat Tank jutsu to tuck his limbs inside his increased mass and roll at opponents at rapid high velocity that can severely damage the opponent.

There is however one more trump card that the Akimichi clan is well known for: the Houren Pills or the Three Colored Pills. Once consumed, the pill will heightens the power of the user to unimaginable levels. However there is also a severe drawback behind the pills; if all three are taken in quick succession it may result in the demise of the consumer. As such, the Houren Pills are taken with immense caution and are only used in the direst of situations.

Chouji’s homely personality and unbridled strength lend much to comprehending his complex nature. Deep down he is a sensitive, self-conscience person who is easily offended by defamation [especially regarding his body weight] and feels that respect should be mutual among all people. Moreover, with the entrance of his care-free friend Shikamaru, Chouji [who was once a social pariah] became a more confident and respectable Ninja which all of Konoha can attest to.
